Chapter 44 – Facing Demons

Geet was standing in the middle of a big hall, interior design on a sheet laid in front of her. But how much was she able to focus with Maan hovering from behind, encapsulating her in his embrace, his chin on her shoulder

“Maa-aan” “Hmmmm..” he nuzzled the tip of his nose in her neck

“this is so mega. Something simple will do” he swirled her to face him and then again she was between his arms

“You are Mrs. Geet Maan Singh Khurana. I am not settling for anything that is not mega” Geet shook her head, it was waste of energy to convince him otherwise

“You select the interior design, which one appeals to you, rest the professionals will do”

“This is too grand for my brain to absorb and on top, you are troubling me” she pouted

“So you want me to stop troubling you” he asked, narrowing his brows

She hit him on his chest “you know my answer.”

So Geet had to focus and select the design while Maan kept playing with her, his lips all over her.

They were on their way back home

“I am completely out of touch of the subject and you are headstrong on me starting this big”

“Then work on brushing up. In the medical field you also need to take exams to keep yourself updated, right?”

“You know about this as well?” he shrugged his shoulders. 

“You’re beginning to refresh your material and keep your trouble maker mind engaged.” he said smiling at her

“who is talking”

“Of course, the most trouble maker. But you do not count yourself any less. It all started with your troublesome and stubborn brain” Geet laughed.

They have come far away from the point where they would be sensitive to any reference to how and what happened in the past. They were happy healing each other and seeing the other one happy and in return were themself getting healed. Now taking jabs on older deeds did not push them always into guilt. They wanted to laugh at each other, spend quality time with each other.

But only when they were working  to give a smooth path to their uneven start, the past was ready to test their effort. They will have to pass all the tests of the past for the smooth future of their relationship.

The car stopped at the main entrance of the Mansion. Maan came out and pulled Geet in his side embrace and they moved inside

“Maan” she hit him and he pulled her even closer.

“Devil” Love was evident and his each act openly screamed of it. But still he had never explicitly said that he loves her. Now her heart yearned to explicitly hear it from him. Ohh.. once he openly confesses to her, she has no idea how much love is he going to shower on her. But Geet had no idea that this wish of hers was going to be fulfilled in a harsher way.

As they stepped inside the Mansion, Sameera was there sitting with Dadima. Obviously it was not a pleasant sight for the couple.

“Hello Maan ” With excitement in her voice, Sameera approached them and embraced him tightly, deliberately ignoring Geet. Maan remained rigid, unable to push her away, revealing that even a devil can have restrictions and reservations. Geet would need to learn over time that this seemingly merciless Devil had his own limitations.

He slowly separated her “You here?”

“Not fair, you didn’t give me a hug back” ignoring the fact that he never does. 

“What made you come here Sam? After whatever you did in my marriage?” he came straight

“Don’t tell me, just because I showed mirror to your wife in the marriage you are breaking the old relationship”

“Friendship” he corrected her

“You can call it friendship. Friendship is also a relationship, so I call it relationship”

Maan turned to Savitri Devi. She understood and as always she left him to deal with his relationship with people to whom he had gone, when she was against it.

Seeing Maan never being rude to Sam, not knowing the reason, Geet could not be disrespectful as well, however hard her words cut her heart.

“Hi Sam, how are you?” Geet asked with all politeness. Maan looked at her, not liking her talking to Sam. He was stuck in an obligation, his hands were tied, not Geet’s.

“How many times do I have to tell you, I am Sam only for my close and loved one, like Maan. Not for just anyone. You can call me Sameera”

“Sam, just to remind you, Geet is my wife”

“So what Maan. I am just asking her to call me by my formal name and not nickname. She being your wife doesn’t make her acquaintance of mine”

“Nor does she need to, Sameera”

“Maan!!!” “Why what happened?”

“It was for your wife, not you. We are BFF and more. You can always call me Sam and that’s how I prefer, you know”

“Well, if my wife is just an acquaintance of someone, I cannot feel otherwise. Now can I ask your reason for visiting?”

“You two talk, Me and Dadima will take the leave”

“Why don’t you want to talk to me? I am Maan’s childhood bestie. Or are you scared of knowing the dark secret of your husband. Want to live in a self made bubble that he loves you”

“I can talk to you as his friend though I cannot say about you being his bestie as Maan never mentions you. Anyhow, I don’t want to discuss my husband with someone I hardly know. ”

“So you are sure your husband loves you? He has confessed he loves you?”

Geet was taken aback. Why is Sameera so confident that Maan has not confessed his love to her.  Maan looked at Sam, what was she trying to do? 

Yes, he had never openly confessed to her – “Sameera, why are you here? Whatever is the reason for your visit, just come to that very point. But I  surely don’t allow your interference in my personal life and my wife”

“No Maan, I had been waiting for you all my life and you suddenly married her. Let me see how strong your relationship is? Let your wife know why she is your wife. You will have to hold my hand and throw me out of the house if you want me to stop. Will you be able to do that? Just grab my arm and throw me out“ 

If it was anyone else in place of Sam, the person would have already been out of the house. But Maan could not do that to Sam. Maan felt ashamed in front of Geet for not being able to do so. He wanted to punish himself hard for letting Geet go through the Sameera torture all due to him. But he just could not throw Sam out, it was an old due. He was a Devil but not an ungrateful person.

Geet saw the confused state of Maan. No she will not be his weakness but his strength. 

“If you have so much faith in this relationship, why are you hesitant, Maan?”

“You are not understanding the difference between not wanting interference and hesitancy. We do not need to clarify our relationship to you or anyone in this world. You know me well, I don’t do things to give clarifications to the world, the reason I am the Devil. “

“huhhh” she was not ready to budge, not getting his warnings

“Sam, you know I have tons of extra patience for you compared to other people, do not stretch that to the level that it breaks “ Maan was now losing his patience and losing patience with Sam was a big thing for him. 

Geet could see the veins on his neck strained out and his face getting red. She wondered if Sameera claimed to be his childhood friend how could see not see the trouble on his face

“And what about me Maan, what about me? How could you not even think of me once before marrying a girl just because she was available for your bed 24*7”

“SAMMMM!!!” Maan was now losing his patience completely. 

“For me to not throw you out, just refrain from speaking a word about Geet. Please confine yourself to comment on only me. “

He hated  himself at this moment for not being able to throw her out. Old debts, especially the emotional ones, are hard to get over.

Geet could see the effect of her insult on Maan and Sam could come at it anytime and it will not be good for Maan’s health. Being a doctor, she analyzed that she has to also let things out of Sameera’s head for her to be stopped.

“Maan, I think Sameera is right. For her to move on, why don’t we clarify a few needed facts to her. Not for us to clarify to her but for her to move on. She is stuck but I don’t want us to be responsible for it in any case. I want her to never be able to blame you.”

“Geet, which kind of move-on is she looking for?? There is literally nothing? It’s all in her brain and I won’t let you go through listening all her rubbish for that move-on of hers”

“Maan, don’t you trust me? I won’t be hurt, I promise. I know what our relationship is for us and how far we have come. Any third person cannot hurt me.Only my closed one can give me happiness and pain and she is not a closed one, at least not to me. Please Maan”

Maan at last had to give up. If Geet was insisting she must have some reason. 

“Yes, Sameera, tell me”

“Sam, before you start tell me how mine and Geet’s marriage affect you? When were we ever in any relationship that my marriage affects you? We were friends, just friends”

“Just friends?? We were just friends? No, you were always good to me and only me. All other girls in your life, including your respected wife, were just a sex interest for you. I was the only one you felt respectable enough to not even think in that direction. And love comes from respect. So how will I not be sure you loved me. We talked so much about things and business but you never disrespected me by ever approaching me in a physical way. I was different, not Geet. She was just another female who you just brought here to fulfill your physical desire”

“SAM!!!” Maan warned her “Don’t cross the limit, you have no idea of what Geet was for me from the day one”

“I very well know, Maan. Just because you married her doesn’t make her any different. Geet” she turned to Geet

“Geet, have Maan ever confessed that he loves you? No”

“How do you know? Maan’s action is enough for me, I don’t need his words”

“Yes, you don’t need it because you do not expect him to say so. Tell me Geet, was your relationship with him anything more than the physical. No. He even claimed you were his mistress.” She gave a sarcastic laugh

“She was my wife all along. Stop Sam..” Maan was breathing heavily. How hard it was for him to control to see her even standing there

“Huhh, because you wanted her physically completely for yourself. It was a high sexual pull, she was your need and to keep her with you always, you made her legally bound to you. At that time, did you marry her to really make her your wife, Maan? No way. She was ready to sleep with you day and night. You don’t marry that way  to a person you love. She didn’t even know you had married her. Did you do all that to her out of love, Maan.” She laughed. She was mad that Maan could never be hers and Geet was Mrs Maan Sigh Khurana. She was just pouring venom

“ You didn’t love her then why did you marry her?”

“SAMM!!!” Maan got up

“Enough. Now you listen. What Geet is to me or what I am to her, is none of your business and nor do you have any right. But let me give you clarity on what you are to me. Sameera Ahuja, you are mainly just the daughter of Mr. Ahuja for me. Leave apart the physical part, I was never connected to you even as a friend. I just beared you all though because you were daughter of Mr. Ahuja and I could not deny his daughter’s friendship. I had never felt an inclination towards you in any way. It’s all your brain’s imagination. You were obsessed with me Sameera Ahuja and that is completely your problem. Due to whatever Mr. Ahuja had done for me, I have returned it to him with more than 100 percent interest so in no way am I indebted to your father or you. But it was an emotional debt. Now I am free of that debt as well as you have crossed all limits by speaking low about my wife. You have lost that privilege of not seeing the Devil of me. A single word about my wife now, I promise I will ruin you in a way” He paused 

“Well you very well know how the Devil ruin someone and you will know what Geet means to me”

“Maan’ Geet tried to calm him down, but once Devil loses his patience no one can stop him.

“Geet, can you ensure she leaves this premise and is never seen around you ever. I will not take a second to destroy her if a single thing comes from her” and Maan left.

Only he knew that his feelings for Sameera went beyond anger; he was furious with himself. It was his own actions that had caused Geet to endure such things from others. The weight of his guilt had consumed him to the point where he wished to erase his entire identity. Maan simply walked away from there.

“Have you finished saying everything you wanted to say? Even if you haven’t, you are not allowed to utter another word in my home. Your words have disturbed my husband, and I will not tolerate that from anyone. I want you to be very clear about your place in Maan’s life: it is nonexistent. Even if you had been in a position to be there, I am far too possessive of my husband to allow any girl with such intentions near him. I only gave you the chance to vent because of the old debt he owed to your father, but that is over now. If you interfere with our lives again, you will face the consequences. This time, you will have to deal with me before you face Maan, and if you challenge him again, he will destroy you. Consider yourself lucky he is letting you go today.” 

Geet called the security with all the authority of Mrs. Maan Sigh Khurana, the queen of the mansion, asked them to escort Sameera away. 

Sameera got scared with the reaction and warning of Maan. Devil’s anger and Devil’s warning can send cold chills into anyone’s veins and Sameera facing it for the first time was in shock. 

It took Geet half an hour to ensure Sameera was away. She found Mr.Ahuja’s number and called him directly, warning him to be ready with consequences if his daughter interferes in their life in any way.

“My husband is a Devil, you know it right? You made him Devil for your need but now he has paid all your debt by listening to your daughter’s rubbish. So now, the Devil will not take a second  to make you face him and I am sure you would not like to face Maan, The Devil, right?”

“I understood. Sameera will leave the country today and will settle abroad. Far away from your  life forever.” Mr. Ahuja had his hand in the making of the Devil, fueling the young Maan with more and more hatred. He knew how lethal the Devil was and would never want to face him in that avatar.

It took Geet an hour to settle everything and ensure Sameera was completely out of their way. Sameera saw the power Geet had as Mrs. Maan Singh Khurana. 

Geet ran to her room  to check on Maan. Her heart was scared of what condition he must be in. As expected he was not in the room, not in the study, she checked the dark room,though it was no more the dark room. The room was empty as well. Worried like hell, she ran to Dadima.

Savitri Devi got up seeing Geet and sped towards her.

She cupped Geet’s face within her palms “Bete, are you okay. I am so sorry you have to…”

“Dadima, I’m okay. I don’t care about what anyone else says. I’ve faced much bigger challenges before. What matters to me is what Maan thinks of me. Right now, I’m more concerned about Maan”

“This is all his doings that you have to listen all rubbish”

“Dadima no, it was both of us and between us. How we take our relationship is between us, no person is allowed to comment on that. But for now Dadima, where is Maan? I am getting so worried for him”

“Did you look for him all around”

“Yes, he is nowhere. I didn’t look around in the … OMG , is he in…” and she ran down and at the farthest end of the building where the huge Gym existed.

“ma’am, you cannot go in” said one of the two commandos who were installed outside the gym like robot

“This is my house and you are stopping me in my own house? Move, let me go in. Maan is inside, right?”

They did not say anything but kept standing there with no expression.

Next came the loud sound of his scream, shivering her “Are you all heartless, he is hurting himself. Move, I say move”

“ma’am, sir has strictly warned to not let anyone in, including you”

“Yes, so that he can harm him freely. Let me in, I demand”

Again came the loud scream  “Aaa aaaaaa”.  Geet tried pushing them but they stood there like stone.

Restless Geet shouted at them and then not knowing what to do with his continuous scream coming from inside, made a call. After a few minutes an assistant cme with a knife, not knowing why she asked for it.

Geet took the knife and held it on her wrist “You move or I will do something that your master will destroy the whole world and then you can keep following the orders” she shouted at them.

With no option left, they moved away with their head down, making way for her.

Geet rushed in and the scene in front of her eyes was no less than horror

“MAAAAAAANNNN!!” she rushed to him

Next – Pehle bhi main tumse mila hoon
