Chapter 48 – Losing it

It was couple of days to engagement , morning hours. All their shopping had been done by Savitri Devi, Annie, Rano and Meera.

The marriage function would start after a couple of days and all rituals from engagement to marriage had to be completed in a week.

So they have no option but to finish shopping.Geet wanted to do all with Maan. It would be a dream to do marriage shopping with him. Maan had been so excited when they had talked about their marriage. He had claimed he would do each and every shopping for Geet. It would all be his selection. But now he has just left not to be there to do anything.

She selected the most beautiful ring for Maan, his clothes and every little detail. But she also did shopping for herself, scared that if she does not do the best selection, he will further be angry. She was so cautious as to not do anything to upset him further. 

Two days passed away at a blink and it was their engagement day today. Maan has not yet reached London.

Meera and Annie were in the parlor with Geet. Geet was getting ready but her heart was restless. Maan had not talked to her even once and he would come directly to the engagement.

They were almost done when her cell buzzed with Dadima’s number

“Yes Dadima”

“Now you can bring a smile to your face. Your prince charming has arrived”

Geet’s heart fluttered “Can I talk to him?”

“You don’t need to bete. You just focus on getting ready for him and he will not be able to stop himself”

“Ji Dadi Maa” Geet hoped Maan would melt once he saw her. 

Meera and Annie came to check on Geet “Ohh Geet. All Bhai’s anger will vanish the moment his eyes lay on you. You look beautiful”

Geet held Annie’s hand “You look beautiful as well” 

They directly reached the engagement venue. Her heart was restless with the feel of seeing him anytime now. 

Savitri Devi and Rano came to Geet and she touched their feet and then moved to her Dad in a wheelchair and touched his feet. He caressed her hair “Ble–ess Y-o-u” he managed to speak. He has started moving his hand and speaking, though very slowly. “M-a-an” he managed to ask her

“He will be there soon Dad” 

Annie was meeting her friends and was enjoying the excitement of her brother’s engagement. 

Meera took Geet on stage while Geet’s eyes restlessly looked for him. She felt she had gone years back when he had been upset with her. It was Rohan that time and it is Rohan this time again. Her collaboration with Rohan has earned her years of separation from him and she did it again. She has triggered the pain point of Maan. But this time, she will not give up and keep on trying till she wins his heart again and heals the pain she has triggered.

Everyone was awed by how beautiful Geet looked. Pari and Annie came to her

“Pari, I am sure Bhai is going to forget all his anger once his eyes fall on Geet”

“Looking beautiful” Pari commented 

And then when the venue was all filled with guests, family and friends, there entered Maan in his engagement getup. Ohh Geet’s heart got filled with so many emotions. Seeing him after so many days, his looking so handsome, missing his touches, and him being upset. Geet wanted to run to him, but he did not even give her a look. He waved at his friends and business associates. Took blessings from all the elders, taking his own time to reach the stage as he spent a few beautiful moments with uncle, who spoke his name, caressed his cheeks, bringing slight tears in his eyes. 

Savitri Devi, looked at love from a different angle now. For Maan, they filled the void of parents. He got up, looked at his Dadima smiling at him, moved to her and hugged her tight “love you dear, very proud of my grandson” She gave him a forehead kiss “Go to Geet”.

Geet was eager to talk but as he had already delayed coming on stage, the priest asked them to start the process. Annie and Meera stood on stage with decorative plates in their hands, filled with flowers and rings shining in the middle. 

“Let’s start. Bhai you place the ring first” Maan smiled at Annie with a nod, but Geet’s heart fluttered as if he smiled at her. Geet forwarded her hand, Maan took the ring from Annie, held Geet’s finger and slid the ring in it. Geet felt a bliss and her eyes traveled from finger to his face, just in case he gives one look at her face and they can have direct eye lock. But Maan held her hand and turned to all with a smile plastered on his face as everyone clapped. He was smiling way too much to everyone so that even family members who thought he was upset felt Maan’s anger had melted from Geet.

Meera forwarded Geet, ring for Maan. As Geet took the ring, Maan forwarded his hand, looked at Meera and smiled and then turned his focus on their fingers. Geet slid the ring in his finger and everyone clapped as both turned to the audience. 

The photographer came and requested them to pose. Geet and Maan stood together, Maan wrapped his hand around Geet and pulled her closer, sending thousands jitter in her every part and smiled, looking at the crowd. Geet looked at Maan “Pose for camera, look in front” came his stern order surprising Geet. Did he really speak to her? He kept looking at the camera and she looked at his smiling face. Maan simply gave a jerk to her, pressing his fingers on her bare waist, asking her to follow what he said. 

They gave several poses, Maan even looked at her for a pose but only she knew, his face was on hers, his eyes never looking at her. 

“Maan, sorry” she said at last in between the poses. He ignored as if he did not hear her. 

“Maan, don’t do this. It’s our engagement today” He kept waving at everyone with Geet in his one arm around her waist.

Then everyone gathered for a family photoshoot with various combinations. After a while, Maan got down the stage, talked something to Dadima and left after meeting with important people. Geet was surrounded by family members when he left. 

Geet had to talk to Maan. “Dadima, Mumma…can I go in? Feeling bit tired”

“Unn hnn.. we know where you are going” teased Meera as Brij, Richa, Annie and Pari laughed.

Geet ran upstairs to Maan’s room as soon as she reached the Mansion. The door was wide open but no one was there.

“Maan-Maan” she checked the study of the room as well but it was empty

“Nakul – where is Maan sir”

“Ma’am, he is in the main study but asked no one to disturb him.”

Geet ran to the main study, the door was closed and she could hear  discussion going on  and Maan with a boss tone.

“Such a serious meeting on engagement day, why Maan?” she talked to herself

She slightly opened the door to see they were all on video call. “Maan” she called softly. Maan without looking at her switched off his video and picked his phone 

“Nakul, did I not tell you I do not need disturbance. It’s important meeting going on”

“Ma-aan” she pleaded Maan switched on his video and continued his meeting. Nakul stood outside the door

“Geet Ma’am” he requested. She nodded and got out, closing the door.

“I won’t go inside, you go”

After an hour the whole family returned but they stayed down in the hall not wanting to disturb the love birds.

Maan was done with his meeting and stayed seated for about 25-30 minutes, with closed eyes, lost in thoughts. So many things going inside his mind, her expectations for their engagement, his beautiful promises of marriage, her pleading voice. Thankfully he has not seen her beautiful face. But no, even that will not melt him this time. He had had enough and she had torn apart his string of patience.

Even today, the thought of Rohan placing his hand on her jerked him from top to bottom. Yes he is possessive of her but that’s nothing new to her. She knows it very well. But this time it was not limited to her going to that bastard, the fact that anything could have happened shivered him.

Almost after an hour and half, he came out to hear buzz from the down floor. He sneaked to see all the family members were relaxing and chatting. Satisfied, he turned to find Geet fallen asleep next to the door of the room. 

Geet, who had fallen in deep sleep, felt a sudden rough pull, she was lifted by her arm and pushed to the room. By the time she gathered and came in sense, she found herself pinned on the wall of same study and Maan standing in front of her, his hands bordering her either side, his fire filled eyes bored in to her face

“Are you ever not done with your drama?” 

“Maan, sorry” she lifted her hand to caress his cheek “Today is our engagement day” her beautiful pleading eyes could move him so he turned his back to her

“So? You are getting everything. You did a great job and now won everyone’s heart. Go and enjoy your win” Geet ran and hugged him from behind

“Everything fails when you are upset”

He turned and separated her from him “Ohh come on, I very well now know where I stand, so go and shed these tears and cute smile in front of all those who matters to you”

She lifted her hand to cup his face but he held them midair. His fists landed on her glass bangles. In anger he pressed his fist hard, in the process breaking them. “Don’t you understand simple words, just leave me alone. I have few days of peace so just let me be”

“Maan, I will explain it all. Galti hui hai. I will not do anything against your wish anymore. Trust me”

He left her, pushing her afar a bit, making her stumble “You are an adult, you very well know what you do. So please do not do such a big favor to me. Do what you think is good for you. Just go and leave me in peace” Geet again moved forward and hugged him, tears rolling her cheeks now. How badly she has hurt him

“You love me. you are hurting yourself, I know” He again separated her, held her arms tight and looked directly into her eyes. Tears kept flowing down her cheeks but his face showed no emotion on that, even if it was hurting anywhere deep within

“You are very badly mistaken. I am saving myself from getting further hurt. You can keep up the drama with other family members.” 

“Maa-aan” she tried closing in but he kept holding her arms and pushed her farther. 

He left her hand and turned “This is what I am for you from now onwards. Don’t expect anything else. Decision is yours” Geet ran to come face to face with him

“What do you mean by decision in your” she held his arm and pushed him

“What do you mean by that?” he simply kept looking at her face. She shook him

“What do you mean by that?” she shouted, he kept his eyes fixed on her face, no emotion on his face

“Say, what do you mean”

“Then listen” he closed to her

“Means, I am done. Done with your drama and done with you”

“If you know me deep down, I know you deep down as well. You can never be done with me and we are getting into a relationship. I will win you, get that” she pushed him for his stupid talk

“Know you deep down?” he questioned with satire as he gave a small laugh

“Sorry, but I don’t know you. Now if you can please excuse me” he turned and left

Maan came down, leaving Geet in the study. 

He smiled at everyone, “Done with romance for the day,” teased Meera. Maan smiled and settled beside Yash

“I knew it Bhai, the moment your eyes lay on Geet, all your anger are going to vanish”

He smiled and shook his head, as if taking in their tease. Never ever Maan brought their issues within the family. 

“Thanks bete for forgiving her. Poor girl was so worried. I never knew she can be this scared of your anger”

“Ohh… Dadima, I have seen Geet’s condition on Bhai’s anger when she joined the company with me at the start. I was so scared for Geet if Bhai’s same anger surfaces. But seeing her face melted Bhai, I knew it.” Annie was so relieved as she was blaming herself for Bhai’s anger on Geet. Everyone knew Maan had placed tight security and surveillance on her thus she had pushed Geet to clear Rohan’s name. But now that they are back romancing, she can enjoy their marriage functions with lightened heart 

“Yeah, their photoshoot said it all” commented Brij

“Let’s check on the bride to be,” said Annie. Meera and Annie left to check on Geet.

When Annie and Meera reached the study, Geet was smiling looking at the cuts caused due to bangles breaking on her hands. Blood was oozing out but she was just looking and smiling at it

“Oyyy Diwani” said Meera seeing her smiling But as they closed in, they saw blood in her hand and broken bangles on ground

“Ohh My, what’s this Geet” exclaimed Annie

“Love” came out of Geet

“Crazy passion you guys have. If this is after engagement, what’s gonna happen after marriage. Come I will clean this” she said holding Geet’s hand. Geet moved her hand away

“Di, it’s fine. I will do it” and she left, not wanting to expose her emotions to them.

Dadima has strictly ordered everyone to not go to office for next two weeks. One week for marriage and one week after that.

Next morning Geet  was going to kitchen

“Where are you going bete. Your marriage functions are starting in couple of days, go pamper yourself” interrupted Dadima

“Dadima, I will just make coffee for Maan, please”

“Savitri Ji, let her do it. Stopping her from doing for Maan is like punishing her” Rano commented

“Okay go.” she laughed and shook her head.

Geet pushed the door of his room to open it as she entered with coffee and snacks for him. He was still sleeping. Geet knew he had gymed till late night. Had not dared to go there knowing he would hurt himself to show his anger on her.

She stationed the snack trolley at the side and sat beside him. She caressed his face and threaded her fingers on his hairs, bent down and placed a kiss on his cheeks, resulting in waking him up.

He opened his eyes and looked at her face, for a few moments not able to understand if it was his dream continuing or if she really was there. But the moment he realized 

“What are you doing here? Move” as if she was going to obey. She smiled and bent down to place a peck on his lips, he turned to get another kiss from her on his cheeks

“Move Geet, stop this drama” He tried getting up but she pushed him down, pinning his strong arms with her palms, bent down and placed kisses on his eyes one by one

“Good Morning”

“Move yaar” he tried getting up but Geet pushed him on bed again, bending her placing several kisses on his face

He then stayed there, still. She looked at his face “Done with your drama for today or more of it is left”

“Never to be done with you” she winked on which he made an irritating face

“But for now, have your coffee and cookies and get freshened up” She got the trolley near and handed him the coffee.

Maan kept looking at her face, took the coffee, got up from bed, calmly. Took the snack plate in his hand, moved to the trash bin. Looking at her, threw all the snacks in the trash and coffee in the washroom sink, showing her his act

“Happy? Now leave” and he closed the washroom door
