Chapter 27 : Restless Heart

Maan sensed something happened, he was going blank already

“Geet has some major accident” said Annie all horrified

“Shut up Annie. Think before you speak” he took phone from her hand

“hello hello” someone uttered from other side in chaos

“Hello” is all he could mutter “The girl has severe accident. We are taking her to Hospital. If you know her, please come. Don’t know if she will survive” Maan went into shock, phone dropped from Maan’s hand and he stumbled backward.

Everyone was all confused. Pari reached Maan

“Maan control yourself. Nothing will happen to Geet” Annie along with others were confused, why is Maan to be in control. Maan’s head was spinning and world looked blank to him. He stumbled again and Pari held him and make him sit on the chair.

“Glass of water please” she shouted and someone immediately appeared with water. Maan held the glass and it simply dropped from his hand

“Take me to hospital Pari”

“Maan app aise kyun pareshan hai. We will take responsibility of her hospitalization”

“Take me to hospital Pari”

“Bhai you guys continue with your engagement. I will rush to Geet. Sorry for missing on your engagement but I need to go”

Nothing went to Maan’s ear, only some blabber

He suddenly got up and shouted “MY CAAR KEYS PLEASE” and he rushed outside. Pari ran after him, pulled him to her car, made him sit and took the driver’s seat.

Dadima, Pari’s parent and Annie were all so confused. Annie was more shocked, Bhai just left her standing there, as if she did not exist at that moment. She took her car and drove towards hospital.

The moment they reached the hospital, Maan got down and ran towards hospital, leaving Pari to take care of all parking nuisance.

Maan ran to receptionist, everyone looking at Indian man running in hospital with some Indian dressing. As if he was in sense to care

“A girl came with an accident. Some passerby dropped her”

“Yes sir. Police case has been filed but she need immediate operation. Doctors are looking for someone who knows her”

“I… I know her. She is with me in London” Annie stopped shocked as she heard this.

What was Bhai talking? Anyways as of now she wanted to focus on Geet.

“Actually I am her friend. He is my Bhai” Maan was in no sense to give any heed to any talk now

“Take me to her immediately” he shouted and receptionist asked the helper to lead him to the bad accident case.

There was hustle bushel there. Doctors and nurses were running and setting up her. He could see from far. No one was allowed in ICU unit.

“She is with me. Please let me go” he requested. Pari and Annie came running behind as well. He looked at them, he didn’t want any hindrance now

“You both please go for now. Not in this area please. They will not allow if they see such rush” he did not want to take any risk.

Pari signaled Annie to come with her “Maan take care of yourself too. I will be here after while”. All confused Annie obeyed as well.

The head doctor came to Maan “Hi I am Maan, Maan Singh Khurana” the name was enough for doctor to not ask any further question

“Sir come in.” He led Maan in “The accident is very bad. Operation is definitely needed. We are not sure if”

“DOCTOR!!” Maan said loudly but then joined his hands “Please please save her.”

“You will have to sign the documents Mr. Khurana and also what is she to you?”

“Everything” simply came out of his lips

“I mean we need to know the relation; you will be the authority. Or we need someone from her family.”

“I take all responsibility doc. Please start process. She is my employee, is that not enough?”

“In Relation?” Maan closed his eyes and took deep breath. He was getting restless

“She is my, would be wife doctor. Please start the process. I will give you all proofs.” Maan was in some sense as he had not seen Geet yet. They got his signature, asked him to arrange the blood etc.

“Can I see her once please?”

“You can from far though, as they make preparations. Keep hold of yourself after that if she is so important to you”

Maan was led to door to look at her. He rushed inside and the moment he saw her, his heart sank. She was laying senseless. Loaded with blood all over. Her face was all covered with blood as the main injury was on her forehead to side of head. Blood was still coming from head. Maan sat down sliding from the door – What have he done to his Geet. How he was wishing immediately that all the trouble come to him and she be fine.

“Main injury is in head only” doctor said, which he did not register.

He was led outside to be seated. They have to actually drag him out. Pari reached in time with Annie after getting all proper approval to be there. She could not leave Maan alone as of now. She held Maan and made him sit.

“What has happened to Bhai? How is Geet?”

But Pari saw some madness in Maan’s eyes. It was case of Geet and she knew he always lost his normal sense in case of Geet. Then her eyes went on his fist, which was tied. She held his fist to find a sharp small surgical knife in his hand. Maan had grabbed it from the try. Pari was scared

“What is this Maan. Leave it now.” He did not say anything, just took his hand away

“Maan leave it. Maan, Geet will be all fine, leave this”

“She will be fine, I will be fine” he said all lost, holding the small sharp knife tight.

Annie was all still so confused, not having inch idea why is Bhai behaving like this. Geet has just joined few months back, Geet was her friend. Okay being worried for employee is fine but this way?

“Maan you are role model of so many, role model for her. Please don’t do this. Annie take this from your Bhai’s hand”

Annie spread her hand in front of Maan. What went into him, he gave it to Annie but all in trance.

“Annie, you stay with Maan. I will be back in an hour. I will change and bring change of clothes for him. Don’t leave him”

Pari left. Annie looked confused at the horrid state of her Bhai. She sensed something but how could it be? when? and this deep?

“Bhai how is Geet? what happened to you Bhai” All lost Maan, held Annie’s hand

“Annie she will be fine, right? Bolo Naa” Annie knew it was not time to get her answers but she sensed his deep worry

“Bhai, nothing will happen to Geet. She is such a pure and sweet heart”

“Per bohut ziddi hai” he almost cried

Maan was restless the whole time, not able to sit, he got up, was pacing in the alley.  Nurses and doctors would come out and he would jump

“How is she? How long will it go? She will be fine, I know. Why is it taking so long?” he would blabber

“Mr. Khurana, calm down. This will not help. We are working, injury have gone deep. We can just hope of success”

“Hope of success?” he murmured and slid down against the wall. The for next 5 hours Annie and Pari had to manage Maan, who was going maniac.

Pari handed Maan’s normal clothes to Annie and but he was not moving away

“Maan what will she feel if she sees you in this costume of engagement” This led him to change. At home only Pari informed Dadima who Geet was so that she can inform her family. Dadima was in another shock

“Their youngest one? He never mentioned her.” But she did not have their contact or guts to call them and let them know the condition of their daughter. They asked Pari to let Maan do it. Pari did not say anything regarding Maan’s condition and left.

Annie and Pari tried to give him some coffee or water but he would not even look at it. He was hating himself, last was he thinking of his comfort.

After another couple of hours, doctors came out with smile

“We had no hope but our team did it.” Maan bent down in knees in front of the doctors. Realizing, how small a common man the great MSK was. Doctors were God on earth for him now.

“Thanks” and he closed his eyes, all tears that he was holding slid down.

“Can I go see her?” “Have some patience Mr. Khurana. She is under observation for an hour. One person can go after that. But she will come to sense not so soon. It may take hours.”

Maan then sat on bench like some human would.

“Maan talk to your family in India. Your Aunty was crying and everyone is worried. They will soon board the jet. I arranged your jet for them”

“Thanks for everything” he looked at Pari

“I am a jerk” “I know”. Annie was just quietly looking

Maan dialed to Brij “Thank God Maan, she is fine” Brij and whole family knew, Maan will not be in any state to call till he has some good news for her

“I failed with her Brij. Not worth” “Shut Up. Mumma was having faith just because you were there – Maan is there, nothing can happen to Geet.”

Ranoo took the phone and she was simply crying “Aunty she is fine now. I am sorry Aunty”

“Naa puttar, don’t blame yourself. Your prayers for Geet had to reach. I knew she will be fine, Maan is there. Kuch Khaya nahi hoga, khaa pee le” he smiled and disconnected.

Pari and Annie at least took coffee but Maan did not. He had in his heart made resolve to live normal life only after she opens her eyes and speak at least a word to him.

After an hour doctor informed that Geet was stable but will take few more hours to get perfectly stable and any one of them can go to her. Annie wanted to go but seeing her restless brother, smiled and backed off. It was not the time to confront each other, Geet was stable and this was biggest happiness for all.

Pari took Annie home for some break, she knew there was too much for Annie to take.

Maan entered the room with shaky legs. Geet was still laying all unconscious. He pulled at chair near her bed and sat on it, his eyes not leaving her for a second. He settled, with shaky hand took her hand between his both and pressed it

“Princess” he closed his eyes and tear simply drop down his eyes, making its way to his cheeks and then neck.

“Why did I even try to win from you. Have I ever been able to win from you, phir koshis hee kyun kee. I loose and ready to loose whole my life princess.” He kissed her hand placing his lips softly on them.

He took his hands to her face and removed the hair flock there

He laughed a little “How can you think, Maan can ever dare to think of anyone else. Every day you made me say You own me. Phi raise gustakhi kaise ker sakta main.” He kept sitting there, talking all their life to her, each moment of theirs was installed deeply in his heart.

Hours and hours passed by. Doctors kept coming but Maan kept sitting there. They kept offering him, tea or even water but he politely denied every time.

As the Handa’s reached the Mansion, they were not in condition to see the grandness of it but still it could be not missed by the young eyes. Yash was staying in Mumbai with Mohinder and Abhi, and rest all were here. Ranoo badly wanted to come and kids had come to handle her and Geet.

Savitri Devi closed her hands “I am sorry, I had no idea your daughter was here in London, working with Maan. I would have never let he stay alone. Aur aaj uski yeh halat.” She did not say about Maan’s engagement which was happening with Pari that time. Pari has requested badly to not speak about it. Savitri Devi herself was confused why Pari requested that though?

Ranoo closed her hands to her “Maan is there with Geet. Nothing will happen to her. He cannot let anything happen to her. Can we please go to hospital now”?

Dadima and Handa’s reached hospital. They all saw how Maan was sitting beside Geet, caressing her.  Dadima was surprised seeing Maan’s act. If he cared so much, why did he not ever mention her?

Maan did not even see that the family has arrived. He was holding Geet’s hand and due to tiredness his eyes were getting closed. He suddenly felt Geet’s hand move, he immediately woke up and observed, she moved a little and he rang bell to call doctor. Doctors came and checked Geet.

Geet slowly opened her eyes and in front of her, her life was standing smiling. She closed her eyes, it was beautiful dream, she cannot break.

Doctors slowly asked her to open her eyes. She opened and realized, he was actually standing and smiling at her. She blinked her eyes to look at him and then further realized where she was. But it was too quick for her to understand what had happened very recently, how she landed here.

“She is fine now, Family can meet her.” “But I will be here” Maan declared to doctor

Doctor Laughed “Off course Mr. Khurana, who can ask you out?”

Ranoo came in and Maan looked at her and got up. She hugged Maan

“Sorry Aunty, it’s all because of me” She caressed his cheeks and smiled. He took her to Geet. Ranoo touched Geet’s face and Geet slowly opened her eyes “Mumma”

“Shhh Bache… don’t speak much” her tears fell down on Geet’s hand. Later, Brij and Meera too came and met Geet.

They then went to Maan “Now go have something Maan, we will be here. See she has come to sense now. We know you had nothing since last 24 hours.” Geet heard it, he closed his eyes, not wanting her to know this at all.
