Chapter 22: You Never Came, You Never Listened

Geet was lost in Moody Maan and Moody Maan Sir when she felt tap on her shoulder. She looked up and blinked her eyes twice – Pari Di. Pari Di has just grown bit more adult, she was still same beautiful.

“Geet?”

“Pari Di?” And Pari pulled Geet in hug. Pari was immensely happy to find Geet. Geet was confused, Pari Di in London, jealousy seeped in her. Always Pari anywhere near Maan made her jealous. But she respected Pati as well. Pari had always been so kind to her. Even in school when Geet would show anger or irritation on Pari, she would smile on her. However, Geet had tried, Pari by her ways had gained respect in Geet’s heart.

“You are in London? Since when? I am so-so happy to see you”

“Nice to see you too” Pari winked. She knew Geet always had hesitation with her and for that she clearly puts all blame on head of Maan.

“How are you here? Does Maan knows it?”

“Yes, Maan Sir knows it” So Pari Di is in touch with Maan sir. Are they together, her heart felt sinking. But he did not talk to Pari Di about her. Okay, she must not be important one to be discussed.

“Maan Sir?” Pari knotted her eyebrows. Pari smiled at Geet, at the same time analyzing the recent change in Maan’s behavior. What else can it be. Okay, so crazy friend of hers, is still living in his assumptions and diving deep in self-pity.

“For How many months, you are here dear?”

“It’s almost four months” “Four Months? And I don’t know”

They were in their talks when they heard Maan’s voice

“Geet” Pari turned to see Maan. She knotted her eyebrows questioning him

“Maan Singh Khurana in Home Décor shop?” she twisted her lips and smiled, taunting Maan and then winked at him. He looked here and there

“Geet has moved to new apartment, so need some setup.”

“Hmm hmmm.. why not” Pari was badly smiling at Maan’s condition.

Now this was also news for Geet, he was here to setup her home. But she stood there watching Pari’s compatibility with Maan. Let him do whatever he wishes. Today anyways she was getting cranky at anything. If she speaks and argues with him, she may blast off, forgetting he was now Maan Sir. So she just stayed quiet.

Pari smile and her teasing looks irritated Maan “Anyways, I can be anywhere. Don’t need to give my itinerary to you. You are stalking me?”

“I wish I had. But now I will make sure I do. At least, I may be able to stop some of your stupidity” she gave him silly smile.

“Okay, now if you can do your shopping and let us do some” “Lettt Usss” Pari stretched, still smiling, irritating Maan “Why not?” she said, her smile not stopping

She turned to Geet, who could not understand their talk but she felt so alien. Her Maan, how can anyone be more open to him, especially Pari triggered her jealousy.

“Okay Geet Bye. Will see you soon.” And she gave side hug to Geet “Bye”

Maan could sense Geet was disturbed, but today he did not want to say anything. Two days of month, she can behave any surprising ways. But why is she upset. She has nothing to do with him now. He was boring Monitor of her life, she had gotten rid of.

“Pari heads Annie’s Creation” He informed and Geet looked at Maan surprised. Pari headed Annie’s creation, so she is right. They are together. He has moved On. That’s why Pari Di was so cool about her. Pari Di always knew she was not threat. She was never in the scene, it was him and Pari Di.

“See, I have selected these pieces. You select which one out of these, you like. I will book them They will deliver by next Saturday from warehouse”

Geet did not say anything, she was losing her mental balance

“See, I know, I am not the person you want to accompany shopping. But in London you have no more choices. I am the one here.”

Geet simply looked other side “Select whatever you feel are nice.” Maan got irritated, held her wrist tight

“Itna bhi kya muskil hai mujhe bardast kerna tumhe” but soon realizing her state he took deep breath

“Ok you take rest; I will do the bookings”

Later they were hungry, off course Geet would not voice it but Maan knew very well what she wanted in these days. She would not eat anything heavy, simply cold smoothies. Later he dropped her and left.

That night Maan could not sleep, even if he tried hard. Couple of drinks did not help as well

“Why Geet, Why? Why do you dislike me so much? All I did was to protect you, protect you from your childish acts and you got bored of me. Why?”

He took couple more drinks and lost the track of what he was blabbering to himself

“My anger or I being upset does not affect you, I don’t affect you. How? You never care to come to me, Kyun? Not then not now.” He wanted to shout but could not. Dadima and Annie, he did not want them to know he was disturbed by any chance.

“6 months, whole final semester I waited for you. Just that you will once come and say that all I saw was wrong. It was not you. That’s it Geet, it would have been enough for me. I never want the whole story that Pari and Brij try to convey me. Your one line that it was not you, that it was all Rohan’s game plan would have been enough for me.”

He paused and looked at his cell “I gave you my number, like a desperate but you never cared to call. Just like that time. You did not find me important enough to let me know, because I know, I am not important in your life. Every day, I thought you will come. Desperately checked with all hostel gate guards, every day for you, but you never came. You were happy, at last the monitor, the mood spoiler was gone. You were free to explore all you wanted.”

Geet on other side have been cranky whole Sunday. Very deep within his not coming today was irking her. Okay, she was not expecting him but heart and brain works differently. His showing up yesterday, staying with her whole day knowing her condition, expectations somewhere built it, rights somewhere surfaced. Her mind was denying to expect, if she meant nothing to him, but when has heart ever listened to her brain, esp. when Maan was the subject.

Especially during these times, he was the one who was with her from when she had first had her period. He knew most about her these times behavior than other. As his being by her side, he took all her tantrums of those days and none knew much about level of tantrums and lone she went. Just because he was there to cover it all.

When she had first seen drop in washroom, she had been so scared and ran to Maan. She had heard about it from friends who had it before her but when she had encountered it first, she had been scared and ran to him. Her tears were flowing continuously.

“Geet what’s the matter. You are scaring me” and she had hugged him

“Saw blood drop in the washroom” “What??” he had been scared for that minute till she further spoke

“I think I know what it is. Girls call it as having Period. It happens every month. Chii Maan.. what have I landed into”

Maan took few minutes to remember something he had read in Bio class in reproduction chapter.

“Okay.. it’s girl body process when you grow. You should talk to Aunty about this, or maybe Meera. I will not be much help in this.”

“Grow? Means, main badi ho gayee? It is something related to babies, right… yakkk”

He laughed “Go and talk to Meera or Aunty, they will guide you”

“No… Mamma will not pamper me now; she will think I am all grown up”

“No-one will think that way. Go to Meera then” but she got stubborn

“No you bring your lappy, we will see what all it is and what to do”

“Geet me??? It’s all girly thing. Go to Meera” she made face and kept sitting there, clearly indicating, it has to be him.

He gave up at last “Okay fine. But promise you won’t ever say anyone that I am into all this with you” she had jumped and hugged him tight “I love you” and placed kiss on his cheeks.

They had researched all about it together and after that it was only Maan with her during this time. Meera and Ranoo actually did not know till couple months that Geet had already started. When Ranoo had got worried one day that Geet had not started, Geet told her that it had and she managed on her own. As promised, none knew Maan was with her always in these times. It was simply between them.

Today she was irritated and preferred to sleep whole day.

Later when she woke up all cranky and emotional

“He never listened, esp. since those last days.” She cried

How had she been trying to talk to him, everyday going to his hostel, so that he listened to her just once. How she had tried to talk to all the guards at gate for him. But all she got to hear was either he was not in hostel or busy in some activity. As if he had given up on her. Or was he upset with her as part of responsibility and never upset for himself. Had he been upset with her due to his pain, she would have sat on her knees to please him till her last breath. But it was not the case, she was just responsibility for him.

In Delhi – Party Hall of ‘House of Malhotra’s’

While Rohan was busy partying with his friends and current girlfriend and her friends. Loud music, Dance, Drinks and drugs were going on. Business was going down but Rohan could not stop his regular party. All his friend group, his girlfriend and will come to know the reality slowly.

Thus to forget it all and be in illusion, he was on smelling drug. All were lost in another world.

“ROHAN!!!” loud voice of his father broke their trance.

“Dad, not now”

“Stop this party now or” Rohan signaled his friends to leave After they all left

“Are you still a teenager boy Rohan; the business has suddenly started dipping from last 1 month, instead of worrying about it, you are having party here”

“Dad, I can’t stop partying and let my friends know something is off”

“Really? This is how far you can think at this time of crisis Rohan. All your stupidity has caused me so much. Why have I ever listened to you”

Rohan Laughed “Because I am your only son and the one to inherit your business”

“Your foolishness, we have enmity with power businessman Maan Singh Khurana. And today our dropping shares like anything and business going from out hand, is his doing. No proof anywhere but I can sense, it’s him”

“Haa that orphan!!! Living on bread and butter provided to him by others… Beggar”

“This is the problem Rohan. You have tried to cover up all your weaknesses and his power and strength by calling him care taker and beggar. That beggar was always way above you in all ways, had your mother and myself explained you this that time.”

“You can bow down to him, it’s your wish Dad. You can praise his richness but I have destroyed him in worst way. I have snatched his most precious thing… Hahaha.. the layer of misunderstanding between two cannot be erased, EVER!!. How possessive he was of her, always like a shield to her. And that Geet, what she found in that orphan care taker of hers that I did not have. Did never give me a look. I destroyed them both. The hatred won!!! HaHaHa”

“Think of business Rohan. He is handling Handa’s business, is what I have found out. They are getting their business stable now. You are not in power to get into enmity with Mighty Maan Singh Khurana. Go, work on making peace with him. He may stop destroying us”

“No Never!!! Me Rohan Malhotra bowing to that orphan? Never”

“Then wait for the day, you will be lying on floor under his feet and begging to the person you keep calling beggar.”

His Dad left all frustrated with his stupid son.
