Enchanted – Messed Up Heart

It was one day, Maan had scolded Geet for taking work lightly and shown his disappointment in her. Maan sir disappointed with her, Geet felt low.

So to make up to his anger, she worked whole night in office that day. Maan came to know about it and was not at all happy

“Why were in office whole night. May I know the reason”

“Sir, you were disappointed in my work. I have worked hard to come out to somewhere near your expectation”

“I don’t see anyone going this ahead to impress the Boss. I am not increasing your salary nor am in making you permanent here. You know well. So what is the reason of going this ahead.”

“Sir, you were disappointed in me. I can’t take it.”

“Literally Geet. I am seriously asking you to come out of the zone you are in. I scold you, I go home and forget about it. I have tons and tons to handle. Get that very clear on your head. There is limit to anything.”

Maan would mostly not scold her for her flirt-ness but when she would go above limit, he would bring her to reality. He actually was scared for her. It was not correct for her or him, that she was this way head over heels crazy about him.

There have been few incidents of such kind and she has started giving thought on her own acts. What have she been doing? Why?

Why does she take anything and everything from Maan sir? And on other side, when Raja Saheb, interferes even a bit on her life, she gets irritated. Raja Saheb is her husband and he has all rights to interfere in her life but Maan Sir, he is just no one, then why does she takes anything from him. Why does she make sure to show attitude to her husband and take all attitude from Maan Sir?

She was confused, why is she even comparing two men. She should not compare any man with her husband. Is she falling for Maan Sir? No she can’t, she should not. This is just light hearted flirting and she is impressed by his personality and just don’t want to disappoint him, that’s it. Her husband, whoever he is, she has agreed to marry him. She may or may never fall for him, but she has no right to fall for any other man.

4 months have already passed. From last 15 days Maan Sir was not in office. He will be away for more 15 days. He was in some foreign trip and then will go to his home town for Holi. He has assigned her the list of work that he expected her to complete. And Geet did her work with full dedication. She used to go and sit in Maan’s Sir cabin. She knows it’s all wrong but why her heart never disallows the thought of Maan Sir. Her mind knows it’s all wrong, completely wrong. She gets scared of the thought, what if her husband knows she ever had such thought about other man. No he will never know, it’s all sealed within her heart. No it’s not in her heart either. She has no feelings for Maan Sir, just respect. It’s a sin to think about any other man instead of her husband.

She curses herself – Why is she even married. She has missed all chance to fall for any man. No not any man. Her heart deep within knew, it was only Maan Sir – she is not allowed to fall for Maan Sir. Tears of helplessness fall down her eyes.

Geet that day spend time with her friends. They had movie and lunch program. She had made good friends – Ronit, Sanjeev, Priya, Meera and Pinky. They were returning when all her friends were discussing about going home in Holi and be back. Holi at home and with family and old friends, all were excited.

“Geet you are not going home” Geet shied – “Let’s see, tons of work in office as well”

“Yaar it’s just internship and your office won’t remember you after you finish it in next few months” Said Pinky

Geet at her lavish home, provided by her husband. She has so much funds in her bank account, she doesn’t even know what to do with them. Her husband provides her with everything – How weird. She has denied to even see him and he is doing all his husbandly duties. Maybe he wants to please his young wife. He wants to buy charm from his immense money. After all everyone cannot have charm of Maan Sir.  This is all her guilt, which is building slowly, that comes with denial. Deep within her heart somewhere knows, she is not doing any wifely duty, and he is doing all husbandly duties. She is working hard to not fall for Maan Sir convincing her act by thought that her husband, being a king definitely have many affairs already.

Geet remembers calling Dadima as a courtesy call. Dadima has asked her, if she can come for Holi. Kalsia has big Holi celebration. Raja Saheb will be there as well. If she wants she can interact with him. But Geet quietly denied. She can’t let Maan Sir down, he has assigned her the work and she need to finish them with fineness. Somewhere also fearing to face the reality of her marriage, her husband. No one can be like Maan Sir and her dream will be crushed.

She cursed herself, it would have been better that she would have seen her husband during marriage itself. Her expectation would have been set by now and she would have never dreamt of Handsome and dynamic personality like Maan Sir.

She decided to spend Holi with her family in Delhi. But then they would make tons of enquiry and sensing any of her deed would chide her.

Geet called Dadima and informed her that she would be with her family this Holi. Dadima took the information.

She so wanted the couple to have their first Holi together. But her Daughter in Law needed more time. She was upset with both Geetanjali and her Grandson. One still needed more time and other, who would not force his wife and agree to her terms. But still within her heart she knew, once Geetanjali knows her husband, she will fill his life with all love that has been missing in his life. And no one can be spared from falling for her Grandson. But patience was something that she needed.

Geet reached her house a Day before Holi. They were all eagerly waiting for her. Brij held her in air.

“So sasural itna pasand aa gaya humaree Geet ko”

“Yes di, you actually forgot us.” Rajji made face.

She pulled Geet’s cheek “But we can understand, with Jiju around, who is going to remember us. My Jiju is best” Geet was surprised with the type of familiarity Rajji talked about her husband who was alien to her.

“Hmm so you know your Jiju so well” Geet hugged her Mom and Dad

“Why will she not know. He has made 4-5 visits to our place, as if you don’t know. You were busy in college and he did not want you to miss your college, so you could not come.” Said Rano

Geet had life time shock hearing all this. She did not know how to react. She realized, he has done the background work so that they do not worry about her married life.

Her Papaji made her sit on the couch as Rajji brought snack for her “But beta Ji, why did you not force him to bring you with him at least once when he came” why are all busy talking about her husband, she doesn’t know anything about him or his visit here. She felt so alien in her own house. But for family, they were one, She and her husband.

Her Papaji cupped her face “Now you are not upset with your Papaji. Did we not say we will find special one for you?” Geet simply smiled. How was everyone so charmed by her husband. Everyone in her family were not having enough talking about him.

Rajji came and teased “Now what happened to you age gap theory? Nobody in your friend group even stand anywhere near my Jiju… haina”

Geet simply smiled. How is her husband really? They are awed in all ways by him. Will this happen with her as well? No No… no one can stand the charm of Maan Sir. But today she was overwhelmed by just story of her husband. Maan Sir somewhere felt to be left in corner.

Rajji showed her the beautiful gift her Jiju have presented her. Geet could not deny, they were not special by the cost but the thought. Each gift suited Rajji so well. Jealousy ran through her. Rano was busy in making Holi sweets and serving great dinner to her daughter, who was from palace now.

Geet’s shock was not stopping, each Rajji’s story made her feel lonely. Something that they cherished, that would have been her to tell them, they were telling her. Her husband didn’t care for her but her family. All show off, she though frustrated.

He had made Rajji and Brij visit Khurana Mansion in Delhi. Ohh that was her house, her husband’s house, she has not seen. They were all so in praise about the Mansion and the special elegant treatment they were given. Ohh so he visited Delhi many a times. She had never cared to know about him. He, the Vachan Palak, never tried to bridge the gap. Her college and internship with Maan Sir, is all she has been lost into. Her own house she has not seen, it was her choice to stay away, being unknown to her in laws.

Then Rajji remembered something “Di, why did you not come to Polo match. Jiju took me there. You know I got the VIP seat and Jiju, our superstar won” Ohh she remembers, Maan sir mentioning about going for Polo match. It was only for high business officials and Royals. How proud he was to say “Raja Saheb got the title”

How badly she had wanted to hear that Maan sir won but Title had gone to Raja Saheb. Maan sir must have lost as gesture of loyalty to his Master. But here Rajji had not even noticed her Maan Sir. She was all Gaga about her Jiju.

Geet’s heart was heavy, all messed up with so much confusion.
